Hydrogeological and Geochemical assessments for EIA

Piteau’s UK, South African and Chilean offices are jointly undertaking hydrogeological and geochemical assessments for EIA studies at a number of operating mines and projects globally.  Typical assessments include: 

    • Specialist input (hydrology, hydrogeology, geochemistry) to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

    • Unsaturated model for waste rock dump (WRD) for the operation and post-closure.

    • Construction of 3D numerical groundwater flow model.

    • Predictive simulation and assessment of pit dewatering rates for life of mine.

    • Predictive simulation of the effects of pit lake formation during the operation and post-closure.

    • Acid rock drainage (ARD) potential characterization and simulation for the pit lake and the WRD

    • Support to obtain permits for the mine expansion.
