Piteau Associates has provided geotechnical engineering services to the mining industry worldwide for over 40 years, with particular expertise relating to the design of open pit slopes. Our experience spans a broad spectrum of geologic environments including: soft, low strength, saprolitized rock masses, very strong, competent, high strength rock masses, and structurally complex porphyry deposits. We have been involved with the design and operation of open pit mines of all sizes, ranging from small quarries to some of the largest mines in the world with existing or planned slopes that exceed 1,000 m in height.

Waste Dump and Stockpiles
Piteau Associates offers geotechnical services relating to the investigation and design of waste dumps and stockpiles for open pit mines, as well as rock drains beneath these structures. We also conduct performance reviews and geotechnical audits and design of remedial measures for these installations. Our geotechnical personnel are experienced in evaluating challenging foundation conditions, including soft foundations soils and steep topography, and complex dump configurations.
